Premier spot for town’s Inn

WHICH? has revealed its muchawaite­d hotel rankings, as rated by members – and found Premier Inn at top spot.

The hotel chain, which has a site at Ocean Plaza in Southport, achieved an impressive customer score of 79% and earned 5/5 stars for categories including: Cleanlines­s; Beds; Descriptio­n Matched Reality; and Covid-19 Safety Measures.

|t is the fifth highest rated hotel in the town according to hotel guests on TripAdviso­r, giving it a score of four stars out of five.

One reviewer, Siobhan, described it as “excellent, and the best Premier Inn I’ve stayed in”.

Another reviewer, William B, said: “Stayed at this Premier Inn on 29/01/22 and glad we chose this place to stay. From arrival to leaving it was a pleasure to be there. The room, food and drinks can not be faulted but above all the staff really make this hotel a great place to stay and we will definitely be staying here next time we visit Southport.”

Premier Inn has more than 800 hotels throughout the UK and an average room price of £66.

Customers were particular­ly impressed by their king-sized beds and the selection between firm or soft pillows.

In fifth place in the Which? survey with an impressive 74% score is Wetherspoo­n

Hotels, with the firm currently planning a brand new hotel in the Pavilion Buildings on the corner of Lord Street and Coronation Walk in Southport town centre.

In 17th with a score of 64% is Travelodge, which has an hotel on Lord Street in Southport town centre.

Bottom of the survey for the ninth year in a row is Britannia (49%), which owns four sites in Southport: The Prince of Wales Hotel, The Scarisbric­k Hotel, The Royal Clifton Hotel, and Pontins.

In Southport, guests are spoiled for choice with the top quality independen­t hotels and guest houses in the town.

According to hotel guests’ hotel reviews on TripAdviso­r, two hotels on Lord Street owned by the Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group were judged to be among the top five in Southport.

The Lord Street Hotel is currently in second place with 4.5/5, with The Bold Hotel is third with 4.5/5.

The top rated hotel is Waterford Hotel, on Leicester Street; with The Talbot Hotel in fourth place.

Three Southport guest houses are also in line to win a top regional tourism award this March.

The Sunnyside B&B, The Braemar Southport and The Heidi B&B have taken all three shortliste­d places in the Guest House of the Year Category.
