- BY ANDREW BROWN

ASOUTHPORT business owner has been shortlisted in the Entrepreneur of the Year category in the 2022 British Hair and Beauty Awards.

Mum-of-six Lisa Rigby only launched her career four years ago from “what can only be described as a broom cupboard!”

Since then, Lisa has opened a stylish new salon, LAR Aesthetics, on Aughton Road in Birkdale in Southport, where she now works as both a tutor and a practitioner.

The UK Hair and Beauty Awards celebrate the hair and beauty industry in style each year.

The awards welcome businesses of all sizes and help them to reach their goals by recognising and promoting their amazing talents.

After long two years of struggle and strife for so many UK-based hair and beauty professionals and businesses, the UK Hair and Beauty Awards are helping contestants to gain recognition for their achievements.

Lisa, aged 41, said: “I am extremely honoured to receive this recognition for my business.

“I am more than delighted for the nomination alone and would like to thank everyone for their continued support and love.

“I am originally

Lisa Rigby from Salford in Manchester. I have only been in Southport for one year. I am the mother of six children. My eldest son is disabled.I hadn’t done very much with my life until I was 37 when I began work as a nail tech in what can only be described as a broom cupboard in my home town of Salford.

“Since my disabled son has been of an age where I can study, I have gained over 20 qualifications. I am now a tutor and practitioner in aesthetics at LAR Aesthetics in Birkdale.

“I have recently found out that I have been nominated as a finalist in the British Hair and Beauty Awards 2022, and have been nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year.

“This is the highest honour I could be nominated for as I really have not done very much professionally with my life until recently.”

Lisa has come a long way in the past four years, building up her LAR Aesthetics business in Birkdale.

She said: “I decided I wanted a better life for myself and my family - a hubby, six kids, two dogs and too many cats to count! I worked tirelessly to gain the qualifications I needed to become an aesthetic practitioner.

“After establishing myself an excellent client base, I have finally achieved my dream of owning my own training academy, in Birkdale in Southport.

“Not only that, I have been nominated for two awards for contribution to

the industry and I’m a brand ambassador for Lumifil UK!

“Never in a million years did I expect to have achieved this so quickly and I thank each and every one of you that have supported me along the way.

“I will be forever grateful to you all, thanks for making my dreams come true.”
