Four friendly faces look for a home

- BY SOPHIE HUBBLE

AS always it has been a busy fortnight here at the Animal Centre, with lots of animals leaving for their new homes.

Two new dogs on the block are Max and Alexa.

Max is an excitable five year old male who is in need of experienced Staffy owners (or similar breed) in an adult-only, pet-free home. We feel Max would benefit from owners who will be around most of the day for him, and who can help teach him it’s OK to be alone for short periods.

Max is a very excitable, giddy boy who loves food: positive, reward based training will not only help keep Max active but will help form a bond between owner and Max. Having some tasty treats should help keep his attention.

Max is an active dog who requires an active home who will be able to keep his mind and body enriched.

We then have the very sweet Alexa. She is also five years old and is in need of a pet free home. Alexa could live with older children aged 14+.

Alexa loves people, and she is always looking for human attention and interaction. She can usually be found stood at her kennel door waiting for someone to pass by.

Alexa is a very excitable girl who is looking for an active home with owners who will be able to keep her mind and body enriched.

Positive reward based training will not only help keep Alexa enriched and give her new skills, but also help form a bond with her new owners.

If you think either Max or Alexa could be the right fit for you, then please apply by sending in a Perfect Match form – this can be found via our website www.rspcasouthport.org

Down at the cattery, we have the beautiful Kel, he is a stunning fluffy boy who is approximately two years old.

We have found Kel to be an affectionate boy who loves to greet everyone! He’s a very enthusiastic and loving cat when he is being stroked, but does also tell you when he’s had enough, with a little love nip.

Due to his long fur he’s in need of daily grooming, but luckily he enjoys this.

Kel still needs to build on his confidence, and in the right home he will be able to with some time. He likes to chill out in his bed during the day and is regularly seen watching the birds fly around outside.

We think Kel is best suited to a pet free home with older children aged 16+.

For those that may prefer a female cat, we also have the very pretty Penny. Penny is only a young girl at approximately one year of age.

We have found Penny to be a unique girl who has come on a quite a journey since arriving with us. She’s sadly had a bad start to life and we are hoping this is now her second chance at happiness.

When Penny first arrived, she didn’t trust anyone. This made her become rather hissy, she would often spit at staff, but after a few weeks with lots of T.L.C from her carers, we found that she started to learn that they only wanted to help her and she could trust them.

Penny still has a long way to go but we find her scared, wary moments are getting less by the day.

We are looking for an understanding, patient home for Penny. This needs to be an adult-only setting with no other pets.

If you think you could offer either Penny or Kel the safe haven they require, please apply by sending in a Perfect Match form, which can be found via our website www.rspcasouthport.org

In other news, our fantastic volunteer Cecilia is now busy collecting raffle donations and preparing for the summer raffle.

We had many businesses donate last year and sold over 2,000 tickets, and we hope to be as successful this year.

We will release more details in the coming weeks. Watch this space.
