Life at The Little Theatre, Southport Let’s continue the celebration
MARCH is a month where women are celebrated. International Women’s Day was on March 8 and this weekend many will mark Mothering Sunday, whether in person or memory.
But it doesn’t need to end there; our production of Di and Viv and Rose opens next Friday, April 1 and runs until Saturday, April 9.
This warm, witty and wellcrafted celebration of female friendship has a stellar sisterhood behind it.
In the director’s seat is Adrienne Ledson.
Adrienne is known to many of our regular audience members as a wonderful actor.
Her solo directing debut was One Man, Two Guvnors in 2019.
She is passionate about this poignant piece and delighted to be ably assisted by Amy Palmer-Farrar.
Amy also assisted on our pantomime this season and is enjoying the change of pace.
The third woman behind the production table is their attentive and efficient prompt, Laura Jane PalmerFarrar.
The approach is one of collaboration and co-operation.
All voices are valid and having a small cast makes for an intimate atmosphere.
The actors are able to discuss other experience and explore their characters as well as considering where and when we meet them.
We have three experienced actors portraying the triple act thrust together by university and linked for life through hard times and happiness.
Ceri Watkins plays sporty business studies student Di Chapman; she is the stem of the wishbone and bonds well with both of her eventual housemates early on.
Michelle Pappini is Viv Platt, the no nonsense Sociology student who is focussed on earning a first.
Di’s flatmate, Rose Willoughby has travelled to ‘the North’ from a sleepy Buckinghamshire village to study Art History.
When her stepfather purchases property in the area, they move in to Mossbank which is almost the fourth character in the play.
Why not take a trip down memory lane with us and come and see the show, maybe bring a friend you celebrate too.
