Road closures for town’s triathlon

- BY ANDREW BROWN

THE Southport Splash World Triathlon is taking place in Southport this April, with a number of road closures in place.

The event, organised by Epic Events, will happen on Sunday, April 3, from 8am.

Southport Splash World Triathlon is a pool-based sprint triathlon with closed roads for the cycle route.

Based at Dunes Splash World Leisure Centre in Southport, the 400m swim takes place in the five lane 25m pool; the 20km cycle is a flat two-lap closed roads course; and the flat 5km run is a single lap around Marine Lake.

Organisers say their event is “ideal for first timers, and we also attract a host of experienced and elite racers.

The atmosphere is relaxed and the course is fast, so join us for an EPIC late season sprint!”

The cost to enter Splash World Triathlon is £44 for a solo entry and £55 for a relay entry.

You are required to be a member of the British Triathlon Federation/Triathlon England for insurance purposes.

If you are not already a member, you can buy a ‘day license’ for an additional £5 at the time of entry.

Entries will close either at noon on the Friday prior to the event or when the event fills, whichever occurs first.
