Friendship told with warmth

- With Jennifer Corcoran and Andrew Sloman

IUSED to think growing up together meant you just happened to shoot upwards alongside certain people but now I think the way you shoot up, the shape you shoot up in is contingent on a few people shooting up with you.”

This quote is from Di and Viv and Rose, which opens at the Little Theatre this Friday (April 1). Amelia Bullmore’s words beautifully capture the spirit of enduring friendship.

The three women featured in this vivid play set in the North of England meet at University in 1983 and forge the firmest of friendships. Their paths cross as they are allocated to rooms near to one another in halls, then they move into Mossbank after Rose’s stepfather buys it.

Each young woman faces challenges as well as triumphs as they navigate their formative years before going out into the world to follow their hearts and dreams. In Act 2 we revisit them at key points over the following two decades and observe how their relationships and lives evolve.

There is so much warmth and humour in this play, but it does not shy away from some difficult themes. They are treated with realism but also sensitivity in the text, and also by our director and actors.

Director Adrienne Ledson has been moved and delighted in rehearsals, and we are sure that you will be too. Di and Viv and Rose runs from April 1-9.

The theme of women in the title of plays continues as we also have The Vicar of Dibley in rehearsal. Richard Curtis’s beloved comedy has attracted a stellar cast under the watchful eye of Adrian Roberts. The cast are having a marvellous time and look forward to welcoming you to the congregation from Friday, April 29 until Saturday, May 7.

After this Michele Martin will direct our bar production, Mom’s Gift, which will be performed from June 7 -11.

We also welcome back visiting societies performing musicals before ending with the rescheduled Death of a Salesman in July.

Book your tickets now, click here or call 01704 530521 from 11am to 1pm/ two hours before curtain up when there is a performance.
