The Waterloo Beer Festival returns

- BY NEVILLE GRUNDY

THIS unique festival is held in the impressive surroundings of a former Victorian church, Old Christ Church in Waterloo. You can enjoy your beer while admiring the stained glass windows, the vaulted roof and the graceful arches.

There will be up to 100 real ales, ciders and perries available from microbreweries all around the UK. On top of this there will an indoor gin garden serving a wide choice of boutique gins, spirits, wine and prosecco.

If all of this isn’t enough to tempt you, there will be live music to get you in the mood. If on the other hand, you prefer to sip your beers in peace, then the Friday daytime ‘music-free session’ is the one for you.

Food will be available from Peninsular Pies and other local independent suppliers for when you get peckish over the weekend. All tickets include entry and entertainment for the session purchased, as well as your own souvenir half pint glass and taste notes.

All halves of real ale will cost £2, payable with tokens you can buy inside the event. All other drinks are payable with cash.

The festival will run from Friday, April 29 to Sunday, May 1 2022. The organiser is Liverpool Events Ltd, and there is a CAMRA discount for all card holders who show a valid membership card for Friday daytime session. Buy your admission tickets from Eventbrite at tinyurl.com/5d3rj82d.

Old Christ Church is on Waterloo Road, L22 1RE, less than 10 minutes walk from Waterloo railway station.
