Vicar of Dibley performance delights the congregation
WE prayed that The Vicar of Dibley would go on after being on the order of service since 2020, and it opened to a delighted congregation last Friday.
Our talented cast have brought the characters devised by Richard Curtis to life with wonderful warmth under the eye of Adrian Miles-Roberts and our audiences have adored revisiting their firm favourites.
Whether you empathise with the enthusiasm of Geraldine, crave the conservative comments of David Horton or revel in the range of romances that arise there is something for everyone.
The Vicar of Dibley will be on each night until Saturday, May 7.
Our bar production, Mom’s Gift is now fully cast and in rehearsal.
Experienced director Michele Martin also directed our last bar production, Visiting Mr Green three years ago as well as Grape Juice that was performed in the bar last October. She is also a fantastic photographer so well placed to think of all of the angles as our audience are often in the round.
Mom’s Gift will be performed from June 7-11 2022.
Between our two shows we are very excited to welcome back BOS Musical Theatre Society.
They will be back treading the boards from Saturday, May 21 - Saturday, May 28 with the joyful Kipps, the new Half a Sixpence musical.
The first musical version (based on a 1905 novel) was created in 1963 as a vehicle for Tommy Steele, so his character was front and centre throughout.
Over 50 years later, theatre producer Cameron Mackintosh reunited the team who had been successful with the reworking of Mary Poppins to look at Half a Sixpence.
Songs were adapted and Julian Fellowes (known for Downton Abbey) wrote a new book. This version premiered in 2016 at the Chichester festival and later transferred to the West End.
The show became available for amateur companies in 2018 so this is a fresh new treat.
