TRIBUTES have been paid to an “amazing” mum after she died after due to complications with her knee surgery.

Carol Ann Andrew from Southport has been described by her friend Jayne as a “loving and hilarious” person who “always had a smile on her face”.

The mum-of-two had surgery after falling in Tesco car park in December.

Just before Christmas, Carol twisted her knee and was taken to hospital by her husband, her condition worsened and she died on January 6.

Jayne, who worked as a carer with Carol, said she was a “mischievous” friend with a “heart of gold”.

She said: “She had just turned 60 and was a great person. She was so hard working and doted on her husband Rob.

“She was a great mum and she was constantly on the phone with her daughter Sam, they worked together for years.

“She was just a grafter and even when her leg was in bad she was still working and helping people. Everyone has got a funny story about her and not one bad thing to say.”

Carol’s family is “heartbroken” by the loss and Jayne said she never went anywhere without her husband Rob, who she was with for 40 years.

Jayne said Carol’s condition worsened after the New Year when her knee began to swell.

It got so bad that Carol could not “get down the stairs” and was taken to Southport Hospital on January 5, where she died a day later.

Jayne is now raising money for Carol’s funeral fund.

Jayne said: “Sam and Carol worked as carers together for years and were hilarious. Carol loved her bingo and was an animal lover, especially cats. We had ducks at work and Carol took it upon herself to make sure they were safe.

“Carol was a loving carer and before she worked with us, she worked in care in the community.

“She had a heart of gold with a great sense of humour.”
