Return to ’90s schooldays

-

TODAY we’re going back to school with some fantastic photographs from schools in Southport in the mid 1990s. The first picture shows children in excellent fancy dress recycling their books at the Book Bank at Safeway supermarket in Southport in October 1994.

Do you recognise any of the faces, or know which school they are from? The store has since become Morrisons supermarket.

The next three images show some impressive modelling work carried out by these pupils at Kew Woods Primary School in Kew in Southport in April 1995. On display we see some adorable elephants, and a cute pig. Do you remember this exhibition? Did you take part?

Next we have four students and two members of staff standing proudly in front of Stanley High School in Southport in April 1995. Can you remember what the occasion was?

Finally, we have a lovely photo of a reunion taking place at St Philip’s Church of England Primary School in Southport on July 12 1994. It must have been a lovely occasion, with lots of former pupils being able to share memories, and to swap stories with the pupils who were learning there at the time.

There are lots of youngsters looking very smart in their school uniforms, and one child at the front wearing an Everton shirt! This photo was taken the summer before Everton won the FA Cup at Wembley. Let’s hope he enjoyed the win!

Do any of these pictures bring back happy memories for you? Do you have old pictures or memories of life in Southport you’d like to share? Please email us at: standupforsouthport@gmail.com.
