Model has designs on curved fashion
ASOUTHPORT plus size model is making waves in the fashion industry by helping to design a curve couture fashion range and taking part in the Ms Curvaceous UK semi-finals.
Debbie Lyn has worked with Kingfisher Couture who recently won the Emerging Designer Icon Award at the This Is Icon awards, which was held in Covent Garden.
The event raised money for the Prost8 charity, whose founder Paul Sayer, attended the awards to speak about the work done by the charity.
Kingfisher Couture and Debbie are working together to help people with self-acceptance and promote diversity in fashion by having disabilities and facing diversity themselves.
At this years London’s Fashion Week in September, they will be debuting a collection which they are holding open castings for on Sunday, March 12.
Anyone interested in modelling is encouraged to apply to showcase the collection.
Debbie is passionate about modelling being open to all and not letting barriers such as disabilities prevent you from entering the industry.
Having overcome difficulties stemmed from abuse, bullying, and low self-esteem, Debbie has become a professional model and recently took part in the semi-finals of Ms Curvaceous UK.
The event was the first time she took part in a modelling photoshoot in her wheelchair and with disability aids.
Debbie also works for Eden Tree Hub in Southport who help to rehabilitate people suffering from a range of adverse life experiences, and to help them change their lives by offering confidence coaching.
She offers one to one workshops on confidence coaching and styling to anyone interested in accessing the modelling industry or fashion industry to equip them with the tools they need to succeed no matter what challenges they face.
