Apprentice­s honoured by hospital trust

SOUTHPORT and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust paid tribute to its apprentice­s as part of a national week of celebratio­n.

Staff were asked to nominate their apprentice­s for a special recognitio­n award as part of National Apprentice­ship Week and a host of quality nomination­s were received from across the organisati­on.

The award went to Robert Coppell, a Nurse Associate, with awards also going to Victoria Webster, an Operating Department Practition­er and Megan Bell from the Finance Department.

Robert’s nomination stated: “He spent many hours studying at home and un the university library doing wider reading and using every opportunit­y to gain skills and knowledge to achieve his learning goals.

“He is extremely hard working and maintains and promotes the Trust values, showing acre and compassion towards patients and staff.’’

The awards were presented by Chief Operations Officer Lesley Neary who said: “We really do value all our apprentice­s and it is amazing to see the work they produce across all areas of the trust.

“Congratula­tions to all our nominees and finalists.

“It’s clear that we have many highly respected members of staff who are an asset to the trust.

“I was humbled to read all the award applicatio­ns and read about the compassion shown for patients and colleagues.

“Although we had to pick out three people, everyone should feel incredibly proud of their achievemen­ts.

“Robert’s commitment to continuous learning for himself and others is to be commended.

“Despite challenges, Robert has achieved his own learning goals and his support to new staff is fantastic and a true testament to his passion on sharing his learning.”
