Enthusiasm is just the ticket for the rewarding roles at our theatre
CONGRATULATIONS to the cast and crew of The Actress. We were all enchanted by the witty and poignant comedy which was played beautifully by a skilled cast. The action on stage reminded us of just a small selection of the people needed for any show to go on.
We had our actress, her dresser, the stage manager, the agent and mention of a director. Whilst we don’t have agents booking our actors here at the Southport Dramatic Club, we do have a six strong play selection and casting committee who read plays, narrow down options for the forthcoming season, appoint directors and assist with the whole process.
Of course, other departments need to be part of the selection - our staging and technical teams need to know if it is physically do-able and our wardrobe department consider the complexities of a show based on when it is set and how many are in the cast.
Once the season is selected we have a marketing committee commissioning posters, letting you know what is going on and arranging programmes.
Tickets are sold with the assistance of the box office group and then our front of house teams step up to check tickets, sell programmes and refreshments and see to your safety whilst you enjoy your visit. Backstage, a stage manager and props team will be keeping things in order whilst curtain operators, sound and light technicians, actors and a prompt await their instructions.

There will be hands on demonstrations and the opportunity to talk to members. Experience is not needed, just enthusiasm!
