Party is fit fur a king!

- BY ANDREW BROWN

PET owners in Southport are being invited by Jollyes The Pet People to enjoy the Coronation of King Charles III with a right Royal Pawty!

The special event on Wednesday, May 3 will include a fundraising walk from Jollyes pet store in Kew to Southport Market, where the celebrations will take place.

Funds raised will go to the Little Legs dogs rehoming charity in Southport.

Pets and their owners are invited to arrive at the Jollyes store at Kew Retail Park in Southport wearing regal attire - the more colourful the better! There will be prizes for the best dressed pet and the best dressed owner.

The parade will begin from Jollyes at approximately 4pm, with participants walking down Scarisbrick New Road, Eastbank Street and King Street towards Southport Market.

During the royal procession walkers will be raising money for Little Legs, a small, family- run charity in Southport which takes in dogs in need of rehoming. Pets and owners will arrive at Southport Market for the Royal Pawty which will start at around 5pm and will last for 90 minutes.

Dogs will be seated and the Lifestage feast will begin, supported with delicious puppuccinos and dog cakes served by Barklays dog cafe in Churchtown.

Visitors will be able to enjoy pop-up Jollyes and Barklays stalls.

Dogs and any other pets will be able to have their pictures taken on the Royal Throne as well as with the selfie boards Jollyes will be providing.

People will be able to win prizes with the famous Jollyes Wheel of Fur-tune and goody bags will be available along with refreshments for pet owners.

Jollyes Southport Store Manager Jonny Wareing said: “We are looking forward to celebrating the Royal Coronation of King Charles III in style and would love to see as many pets and pet owners as possible join us for our Royal Pawty!

“We’d love to see people and their pets dressed like royalty, in red, white and blue, wearing tiaras or crowns, or anything else you fancy, either on the walk or at Southport Market or both. We will be providing prizes for the best dressed!”

Little Legs prides itself on matching our dogs with their perfect forever homes. The charity is completely self-funded and is very grateful to those who choose to support them.

Little Legs founder Christina Mather-Bateman said: “I am extremely grateful Jollyes in Southport has chosen to support us with this very regal event.

“Rescue is difficult at the minute with the cost of living. Fewer people are adopting dogs and more people are surrendering their pets, so fundraising is very hard as everyone is feeling the pinch. We are excited to see everyone’s royal fancy dress!”

Barklays owner Lesley Morgan-Macbain said:

“We are excited to be invited to the Coronation celebrations along with Little Legs, and hope to raise some much-needed funds for their doggies’ needs. We will be selling ‘all things dogs’ at Southport Market after the sponsored walk from Jollyes from cakes to puppuchinos. We look forward to meeting you all!”

The fast-growing Jollyes The Pet People now has 86 stores across the UK.

The Southport store, which opened on July 2, 2022, complements its popular outlets in the North West including Ashton-under-Lyne, Bolton, Eccles, Ellesmere Port and Runcorn.
