Blackadder the Third ends amazing season
THE stage is (almost set), the turnips are at the ready and next week our subscriber season will finish in triumphant style.
Blackadder the Third opens on Friday, May 5 and promises to be a hilarious and uplifting end to another amazing season at the SDC. Jacqui Padden, ably assisted by Peter Hoyle has assembled a top shelf cast to bring episodes of the classic sitcom to our audiences.

You will laugh until your sides split so it is a good job we have our sewing elves working extra hard on this production, whipping up regency breeches and quick change fayre galore.
Blackadder the Third runs from Friday, May 5 until Saturday, May 13. Please note that there will be no performance on Saturday, May 6 due to the coronation, and the performance on Saturday, May 13 will be at 2:30pm to allow for Eurovision celebrations.
Whilst we reflect on a successful year for the club, we also look back at those who we have lost. Our regular patrons would have enjoyed many performances directed or acted by the late John Sharp. John was also a talented writer and teacher.
He passed away at the end of 2022 and has left a wonderful legacy.
His final show with the Club was directing Death of a Salesman which was eventually performed in July 2022 after two postponements. His life and work will be celebrated by members of the club on Friday, April 28.
Another opportunity to look back with respect and fondness is our bar production currently in rehearsal. Lilies on the Land is directed by Paul Wilkinson and tells the stories of land girls who changed their lives to do their bit during the second world war. Lilies on the Land runs from June 13-17 in our bar at 7:30pm each night.
