Health and wellbeing event a success
HELLO from everyone at the Southport and Formby Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Centre.
We hope that you are enjoying the milder weather and finding time to appreciate the spring flowers and the beautiful tree blossom.
Taking notice is one of the recommended 5 Ways to Wellbeing and participants in our latest HOPE (Helping Overcome Problems Effectively) course have recorded walks in the park, appreciating daffodils and blossom as some of the small pleasures they have felt grateful for over the last few weeks.
On Thursday, April 13 we held our first Health and Wellbeing Event of the year at Southport College, which was a big success. These events are aimed at local people who are affected by cancer.
We have community and information stalls, activities, and entertainment. They are enjoyable and informative. We hope to follow up with a second Health and Wellbeing Event in July.
Spring is also famously the time for Spring Cleaning, and we have our Spring Fair at Holy Trinity Parish Hall on Friday, May 12, from 2pm-4pm.
We would be very grateful for any raffle prizes, donations for the tombola or cakes for the cake stall.
You never know what you might find when you clean out your cupboards, so do please bear us in mind and of course come along on the day! If you are a Southport and Formby area resident and affected by cancer, why not call in to our centre.
The other four Ways to Wellbeing are, Connect, Get Active, Learn and Give.
We can provide opportunities that cover all these aspects in our social groups (Connect), walking and other physical activity groups (Get Active), our HOPE course (Learn) and our volunteering opportunities (Give).
