BATMAN ‘89: ECHOES #1

I was always sad that Michael Keaton’s Batman only got two movies.

And it would appear I’m not the only one, as the last few years have seen not only a series of Batman comics set in the Tim Burton universe, but Keaton’s Dark Knight brought into DC Comics’ main continuity.

This latest outing takes place in the wake of Harvey Dent’s crusade against Gotham and Batman, which ends with the Caped Crusader’s disappearance. Now the residents of Gotham are having to fend for themselves, they’re all asking the same question: Where’s Batman?

From the pen of Sam Hamm, Batman ‘89: Echoes #1 is out now, priced £3.90.

BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE, BEETLEJUICE

Sticking with Michael Keaton, the sequel to Beetlejuice has officially wrapped.

Director Tim Burton posted a picture on Instagram showing him lounging in a chair that’s clearly on the movie’s set, with the message: “Just finished shooting Beetlejuice. Thank you to everyone involved.”

The film reunites Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara from the 1988 movie.

They will be joined by Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, and Monica Bellucci.

Beetlejuice 2 is out in cinemas in September 2024.

HELLBOY: WINTER SPECIAL: THE YULE CAT

A few years ago I was lucky enough to go to Iceland and it was there I learned of the fabled Yule Lads, a group of 13 mischievous pranksters who come down from the mountains during December and cause havoc.

They are said to live in a cave with two giant ogres and a cat – the Yule Cat – which eats people who’ve not received new clothes to wear before Christmas Eve.

It’s this terrifying moggy that Hellboy is hunting, as he travels to Reykjavik to solve the mystery of disappearing children.

Hellboy: Winter Special: The Yule Cat is out now, £3.90.
