Can you shine a light on strange sight?

- BY OLIVIA WILLIAMS

A WOMAN and her dad spotted strange lights across the sky in Merseyside.

Sian Billington, from Southport, managed to capture the lights on video on Thursday, January 11 at around 7.15pm.

The 20-second clip shows what appears to be a group of lights floating across the sky in Marshside, Southport.

Some of the lights can be seen flashing intermittently, showing colours of blue and white and appear to be moving in a diagonal line.

The 33-year-old said: “It was 7.15pm as me and my dad had just came out of a fitness class in Marshside and happened to look up and literally both went ‘what the hell is that?’

“It just looked like it was moving quite slowly but like something was being dragged in between the lights.”

Sian posted the short video on a local Facebook group Southport Chat (uk) to see if others had seen the strange formation.

She added: “[I] still can’t stop thinking about how weird it was. Anyone know what it could be? I did think drones, but how it was moving was mad.”

Other people suggested it could be a laser or a laser pen. A few people also suggested it could be a Starlink - a satellite internet constellation being developed by SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk, that aims to

Sian Billington give people around the world - even its most rural areas online access.

Sightings of Starlink have previously been described as looking like ‘a string of pearls moving in unison.’

However, this recent occurrence was not confirmed to be the Starlink.
