Party time as dance school marks 14 years of fun for young children

- BY ANDREW BROWN

BABYBALLET Southport, Formby and Crosby is celebrating 14 years of business.

Local mum-of-two Jennifer Berrett, known to thousands of little stars as Miss Jennifer, is delighted to have been sprinkling the magic of ballet, dance and movement and passing on her passion for dance to local preschool children for 14 years.

The dance school plans to celebrate with special Babyballet party classes at each of their 30 sessions during the birthday week.

Little stars from six months to four years old join their Babyballet teachers Miss Rebekah, Miss Georgina, Miss Emma, Miss Isabella, Miss Katherine and Miss Jennifer as they dance along to Babyballet favourites, use colourful scarves, enjoy musical instruments and play under the parachute to celebrate with their friends.

Miss Jennifer said: “It is surreal to think 14 years ago today I started a class at Lake- side (then Dragons Gym!) next to the Marine Lake in Southport with one bag of bears, scarves and tambourines, nervously teaching the Babyballet syllabus to 17 local mummies and their children.

“Who knew 14 years later I would be running a business with five teachers and over 300 pupils? I truly believe in the Babyballet ethos that every child deserves the chance to dance, it should be a magical experience parents and children should enjoy together and I am still excited to share this fantastic preschool syllabus with families in Southport, Formby and Crosby.

“Over the past 14 years I have made so many amazing memories at national and local events meeting some incredible people, made friendships and have had so much fun. Now here we are, 14 years of good toes later!

“Thank you to every single person and family that has attended classes, events, shared or liked a social media post, waved or said ‘oh, I’ve heard of Babyballet!’ “Without you I would not be here, doing what I love to do!”

Recently Jennifer has been successful in gaining registered teacher status with the Royal Academy Of Dance gaining her certificate in ballet teaching studies and Silver Swans licence.

There are many exciting things to look forward to during the next year. For more details visit: www.babyballet.co.uk or email: southport@babyballet.co.uk
