Children centre stage for awards

- BY ANDREW BROWN

MORE than 200 local children from DBA School of Dance in Southport took to the stage at Greenbank High School to present their class work and celebrate a short awards ceremony.

During the day there were three performances where the supportive audiences of parents, family and friends enjoyed watching the students perform a variety of technical exercises from the posture and poise of ballet, rhythmical tap dancing, strong and controlled Acro and a fun upbeat Beatz class.

Students from four years old to 12 years old performed with confidence and excitement.

The second part of the afternoon saw an awards ceremony where all students were praised for all they have achieved, not only the skills and knowledge they have been developing through their dance sessions but also their confidence, independence and helpfulness towards others.

DBA School of Dance strives to create a community of dancers where everyone is welcome and all achievements are celebrated together.
