The RSPCA column Can you give Pedro a loving, forever home?

- With Sophie Hubble, Business Manager

ARE you looking for a way to give back to your community and help animals in need? Here at Southport, Ormskirk & District we are seeking foster families for cats and dogs that require some extra TLC. Whether it’s kittens, puppies, adults, or elderly animals, there is sure to be a furry friend in need of your love and care.

The Animal Centre will cover all vet fees, food, and equipment, so all you need to provide is a loving home and some time to devote to an animal in need. Fostering can be a rewarding experience for both you and the animal, helping them to feel safe and loved until they find their forever home.

If you’re interested in learning more about fostering please contact foster co-ordinator Lily on 07469 760 975 or email lily.dickinson@rspca southport.net. Be a hero for a homeless pet – foster today!

In further news, be sure to mark your calendar for our annual fundraising family fun day on June 15, 2024. From 11am to 3pm, there will be games, cakes, a barbecue, and even a dog show. Come along and have a great time while supporting a fantastic cause. You can also get a behindthe-scenes look at the cattery and see first-hand the impact your support has on the Centre be it attending events, volunteering at the Centre or in the charity shop to opening up your home and heart to fostering an animal.

To end this month’s article, I would like to introduce a very special boy called Pedro.

He is a friendly one year and eightmonth-old bull breed who is searching for his forever home.

Pedro is an affable boy who loves engaging with new experiences and learning new things, especially when treats are involved! He walks nicely on the lead and enjoys exploring his surroundings with a good sniff.

Pedro is energetic, friendly, and loves meeting new people, although he can be a bit stubborn at times. He thrives in a routine and consistent environment where he can be the centre of attention.

Pedro’s recall is good and he is currently undergoing muzzle training at the centre. He is also halti trained. Pedro is looking for a cat-free home with any children being 15+.

We feel he would do best as the only dog in the home, although an existing dog could be considered if they are the right fit. Multiple meetings would be held at the Centre. Please note, experience with large breeds is required.

If you think Pedro could be the perfect match for your family, please send a completed Perfect Match Form to info@rspcasouthport.co.uk to apply. Give Pedro the loving, forever home he deserves!
