Who is John of God, the renowned psy­chic sur­geon?

With no for­mal med­i­cal train­ing, John of God – oth­er­wise known as João de Deus, the

Mir­a­cle Man of Brazil – claims to chan­nel the spir­its of doc­tors and saints to help him heal peo­ple.

Three of his main spirit helpers are Brazil­ians Dr Oswaldo Cruz and Dr Au­gusto de Almeida, and spirit guide Saint Ig­natius de Loy­ola, whose lov­ing en­er­gies to­gether help him heal pa­tients.

John of God has treated up to 15 mil­lion peo­ple dur­ing the past 40 years that have suf­fered from a range of phys­i­cal and emo­tional ail­ments.

His free clinic is held in the small town of Abadiâ­nia, in Goiás, to which peo­ple flock from all over the world.

It has rooms where dif­fer­ent types of heal­ing pro­ce­dures oc­cur and in one is a stage where he con­ducts his op­er­a­tions.

There’s also a cleans­ing room where his pa­tients can med­i­tate and lis­ten to prayers from a medium to help heal them.
