Aron Ralston is a climber who famously cut off his right arm to free himself, after becoming trapped in a crevice by an 800lb boulder. His ordeal became the film 127 hours, starring James Franco.

After being rescued, Aron claimed that on the fifth and last night he was stuck in the crevice, he’d been visited by a young boy.

He recalls, ‘There was this little child, about three years old, blond hair, that I picked up and was interacting with, with my left hand and a handless right arm. I saw myself holding him there.’

At the time of his nightmare experience, Aron was childless, but he went on to have a son, Leo, almost seven years later in February 2010. Aron believes this was who he saw in his darkest hours, and who kept his spirits alive when he thought he was going to surely die.

‘I can’t wait to see him,’ he said in the interview, just weeks before Leo’s birth. ‘He helped save my life in that canyon, and I get to tell him ‘thank you’ in a couple of months.’
