The DFB, the German soccer federation, selected Munich over Berlin as its candidate city to host matches at Euro 2020, the European Championships that will be played in 13 cities across Europe, instead of in one or two countries as normal. Munich will be put forward for the two available hosting packages: three groupstage matches and one knockout (round of 16 or quarter-final) match; or two semi-finals and the final. National associations must submit bid dossiers by April 25, 2014 before an evaluation phase leading up to the appointment of host cities by the Uefa executive committee in September of next year.
