Don’t rush to set up
I have a young family and don’t have much time to do recon. Do you have any tips on how I can increase my bag in terms of where to set up when the odd spare hour occurs?
Tom says: This can be tricky. I live 30 minutes from the bulk of my permission so a recon trip can take up a lot of my day. I will still try to get there as frequently as I can, but I will often rely on knowledge from previous years and people on the ground.
If you don’t get the chance to have a look beforehand, don’t rush into setting up when you do get there. You will often see patterns and flightlines starting up if you just sit with a pair of binoculars. You can then make a decision based on what you see.
