Why, in this digital age, are we told to carry our certificates when out shooting? Can’t the police check them online?

David says: Most of the world has gone digital but firearms licensing hasn’t progressed much beyond the stone age. The law allows a constable to seize your guns if you are unable to produce a certificate. He or she should be able to check your bona fides online, but it is not clear that this works in all force areas. Better safe than sorry.
