Underground bunnies

-

It has been raining for days where I live and in all that time I haven’t seen a rabbit. How long can they survive underground before they have to come up to feed? Ed says: During the Canna cull, bad weather did complicate the logistics. Consistent bad weather — high winds and driving rain — made the rabbits stay indoors. The rabbits had evolved to store food in the burrow, which was apparent by the sight of vegetation being pulled into holes (not in breeding season). This was the first time I had seen this. On the mainland, rabbits tend not to like rain but will tolerate it and, if it is windy, can travel far at night. Rabbits are grazing animals so tend to feed regularly.
