RIZZINI’S RBEM 20-BORE
TESTED
All the guns I own are 12-bores. I just find it makes life simpler when ordering cartridges and I also like to think it reduces the risk of stuffing a 20-bore cartridge into a 12-bore gun. However, from time to time I shoot 20-bores and most of my friends use the smaller calibre when doing walked-up shooting because the guns are usually lighter and more wieldy than a 12-bore.
Having tested the new Rizzini Regal last month in 12-bore, I was happy to test its
TRIED AND TESTED
The RBEM action has been around for a few years, and are scaled to the calibre stablemate, the Round Body EM (RBEM). The Regal is based on the RBEM action, the RBEM having been around for a few years. However, I hadn’t had the opportunity to test one. The model we got was a 20-bore, so I was keen to see how it handled.
Actions are scaled to the calibre, which makes the guns lighter and better balanced. This was obvious on the gun we had for test. It had 30in barrels with fixed chokes, rather than multichoke, which took 4oz off the barrels, moving the point of balance back about an inch to the front of the trigger guard. The Regal had felt a little barrel heavy with multichokes and 30in barrels, but the RBEM felt perfectly balanced for me.
Deluxe model
The gun on test was the Deluxe version and as such had a hand-engraved, metal grip cap, elongated trigger guard and Grade 3 selected walnut. The figuring on the wood was fantastic and the wood-to-metal fit very good. On both Deluxe and non-deluxe
