BASC launched a series of shotgun safety videos last month ahead of the lowland game season, demonstrating how to follow best practice — from shotgun slip procedure to how to handle a misfire. Tom O’carroll, BASC’S video producer, said: “It can be surprising what questions crop up when looking at the details of shotgun safety. Exactly what stage of shooting should you disengage the safety catch? How can removing a shotgun from a slip bring you respect or make those around you feel safe? What should you look for to check if a gun is safe to use? “In these films, we show things being done right and point out what makes it right.” The films can be found on BASC’S Youtube channel - youtube.com/ bascfilms.
