Don’t quail about going to Pakistan

-

I thought to drop you a line while on the way back from an amazing trip shooting walked up wild quail and black partridge in Pakistan.

I run and own the Tower shoot in Kent and I am lucky enough to have a shoot with a mixture of people from all backgrounds and cultures. One of the Guns is a friend from Pakistan. He invited my son Morgan, 16, and I along with another friend over to shoot with him in September. I can tell you that despite some bad things we hear about Pakistan, the country and its people are amazing – friendly and kind, and the hospitality was like nothing I have experienced.

We were shooting bags of 150-plus quail over cotton fields, an experience Morgan and I will remember for a long time. We would start the drives at 6am prompt, with approximately 10-12 drives and be finished at 9am before it got up to 39°C in the morning and too hot to shoot.

On one of the days, I was lucky enough to be allowed to run the beating and shooting line. What a challenge that was. I had about 50 beaters and four Guns to manage… it was like herding chickens, but what a laugh we all had trying to understand each other.

Shooting walked up wild quail in Pakistan is fabulous and I would heartily recommend adding it to your list of shooting destinations.

A very special thanks to Javed Akhtar, my host, and keep up the good work at
