Wildfowling frequency

-

How frequently do you go wildfowling? Do you find that you can overshoot an area by hitting it too hard and often? I normally get out once a week for a flight and am interested to know how often someone like you gets out.

The quick answer is: as often as I can. We are normally out a few times a week in the season, depending on what else we have on. I am lucky that I have a vast area to shoot over. This means that I can shoot for weeks without shooting the same area twice. I will always leave ducking areas to rest, as hammering an area will ruin the sport for the future. A lot of my ground is club ground, so there are other fowlers who shoot the same bits. I always look for areas that don’t get shot often, as I can shoot these spots as I please and know that nobody would have shot it since I was last there. This allows the ducks to have much-needed peace and quiet. We also travel to other clubs and over the Border into Scotland. So, we get our fair share of sport.
