Motherline clips
Duck decoying on tidal estuaries is one of my favourite pastimes. I will always set my decoys on a motherline when shooting in creeks, as it is the safest way to deploy and retrieve them. This is especially useful when an increasing water level or treacherous mud make it difficult to get out into the water.
I have used motherline systems from Tidepool for a number of years now. Its mainline is perfect for the job as it sinks, allowing dogs to swim freely over it without the danger of becoming entangled in the line. I have also adapted the design by putting the cord on a plastic spool, so it is quicker and easier to drag the line out.
The motherline clips that Tidepool sells are another must for me. They are the best method I have found for attaching my decoy line to the main motherline. They open up the flexibility to attach the decoys at random intervals, helping to create a natural spread.
