“per­fect small sport­ing es­tate” wins purdey gold

The Howesyke shoot in Grafton, york, re­ceived the 2018 Purdey Gold award for Game and Con­ser­va­tion at a cer­e­mony held at james Purdey & Sons’ Long room in Lon­don. The an­nual awards, which this year mark their 20th an­niver­sary, cel­e­brate the uk’s most out­stand­ing game and con­ser­va­tion projects. The Howesyke shoot, run by rob and He­len Brown, was praised for its work in wood­land and heather restora­tion, along­side a suc­cess­ful scheme to rein­tro­duce black­grouse on the site. The judges de­scribed the shoot as “a per­fect small sport­ing es­tate in the up­lands of Eng­land” and the cou­ple re­ceived the award, along with a cheque for £5,000.
