Licence plea

-

In all the years I have been shooting at clay grounds, I have only once been asked to show my licence. None of the grounds I use regularly have asked, nor have they been visited by the police or anyone in officialdom to ensure that they are acting within the law. I believe it should be a requirement at all shooting grounds to show your licence, even if you are a regular; who’s to say it hasn’t expired or been revoked?

Also, all shooting grounds should have a safety officer. I would say in my experience most shooters are safety conscious but there

Thanks for your email, David. You don’t mention whether you shoot a round of clays caddied or as ‘pay and play’. If you are caddied, then there is no need to produce your certificate because you are going round with a member of staff. Every time I have used the pay and play facilities at clubs, my licence has always been checked.
