Introducing a dog box

-

I have just bought a dog box for my vehicle but my young cocker does not like getting in it. Can you offer any suggestions?

Fran says: Some dogs are not good travellers. If I have a young dog that is worried about going into a box, I normally put a bit of food in with them and leave the door open so they begin to associate the box with something good. They also soon realise that being put in the box means they are going out to work and that normally overcomes any concerns. It is important you ensure your dog only comes out of the box when called, and that is even more important if you have more than one dog. There is nothing worse than arriving at your shoot opening the back of your car and the dogs all piling out. It not only looks bad but it can also be dangerous for the dogs, especially if there are a lot of vehicles moving about.
