Is wildfowling antisocial?

-

Do you shoot with more than one person together on the marsh? I have heard that wildfowling is a solitary sport and unsociable compared with other shooting.

Tom says: It has become less common for me to be out on the foreshore without some form of company – other than Goose and Hugo, of course. My partner Charlie joins me for numerous trips to the saltings to gain experience and take photographs for our business. We also shoot together on her day tickets and in the other club that we are both members of. I will often shoot with my father and brother, as we enjoy a few trips together throughout the season. I also have friends in the club or guests that come shooting with me. Wildfowlers are renowned for being grumpy and lonely old boys, but this is far from the truth. You will often come across multiple fowlers shooting together. Wildfowling is a great sport and one that is nice to share. Having said that, I do keep a few secret areas up my sleeve, such as my perfect pintail spot, which I have only shared with Charlie.
