Shooters return to the stands
After a long absence, shooters have been back at grounds across the country for the past month or so. Practice rounds and registered competitions are both back in full swing, with squads of six being able to shoot together once again.
Thanks to the easing of restrictions, particularly those regarding sporting events and social contact, there is a packed calendar of shooting competitions this summer.
The first major event of the year will be the English Open English Sporting, at Barbury Shooting School, near Swindon, on 19-23 May. “It has been fantastic to finally be able to open our doors again,” said Barbury’s Huw Stephens. “Now we are looking forward to the English Open. It is a huge honour to host the competition and hopefully we will do the first major of the season justice.”
All shooting grounds require pre-booking and each ground has its own safety protocol. For information visit your region’s shooting association website or gov.uk/coronavirus
