Sporting Gun

EASY LIFE

-

There are two areas that I would like to highlight. First, rabbits: with this, the starting position may require the body to be bent forward from the waist to allow the stock to get located in the shoulder correctly as it is mounted; and secondly, a fast going-away target, where the break point would need a very fast mount. This will involve a conversation about whether it would be easier to shoot it in the shoulder pre-mounted. Why would you make it harder?

Gun down is an advantage most of the time, but sometimes, as the rules allow, start in the shoulder when it is an advantage to you, rather than risking a poor mount or to help buy some time on a quick target.

Choosing when to start gun up and gun down will change as your mount improves and your confidence builds. Targets that are found to be hard to mount to on this lesson are revisited in later lessons to monitor progression.
