THE SET-UP FLUSH

There will be no guarantee how long the pigeon will sit for, so gradually work your dog up to the area. You may find the dog will want to pull towards the scent but try to keep it tight to you, as in your previous hunting exercises. Initially stop the dog just before it gets to the bird and hopefully the disturbance will be enough to make the pigeon flush. If it sits tight, gently prod the bird out but be ready to block the dog.
