Warts, or papillomas, used to be more common but are still seen occasional­ly. They are usually fairly superficia­l, verrucose growths, and some are caused by a virus. Generally seen in the young or immunocomp­romised, they can disappear as immunity develops. Removal is only indicated if they are causing damage to the front surface of the eye, the cornea. They look like warts.
