Fran says: Funnily enough, this is a question that I get asked quite often and the simple answer is that colour really doesn’t make any difference. Gundog breeding and training are the key factors. In fact, when you think about it, in a litter of labs you can get all three colours, yellow, black and chocolate. All the pups will be from the same parents and therefore have the same genetic make-up and, just like humans, each will have an individual character. Therefore, colour is of no relevance. However, what is relevant is what is pleasing to the owner’s eye. By that I mean you will have to (hopefully) look at your dog for many years so chose the breeding first and then, if there is a choice, decide on the colour you prefer.

?? ?? I am looking to buy a new labrador and I am not sure what colour to get. I have heard that black ones are harder to train. Is there any truth in this?
Does canine colour make any difference to training success?
