Opening shot
Aaron Heading is finally going to the Olympics. With a Junior win at the European Championships as far back as 2006, he is also a four-time Commonwealth medallist and was all set to go to the Olympics in Rio in 2016 when a motorcycle accident – that nearly cost him a leg – ended him dreams. Despite contemplating retirement, he has instead staged a remarkable comeback, reclaiming his previous form and a place on Team GB for Tokyo. And as if that if not impressive enough, when he is not pursuing Olympic glory he is a volunteer with Sutton Bridge Coastguard, Lincs. It “highlighted elements that being back in a team environment was really enjoyable”, he says. We are certainly pleased to have him back and wish him – and all the Team GB shooters – every success.
