Think twice over two pups

I am considering taking two pups from the same litter, a dog and a bitch. I have been told by one person this is a good idea as it means they will have company but another says it is a bad idea. I am confused. Can you help?

Fran says: This is a question that quite often comes up and the answer is: it depends. If you have the time and the facilities to house the puppies separately, then it may be an option. If you are not going to be able to dedicate training time to each pup individually and treat them as two separate dogs, you may well end up with issues. Two pups from the same litter will inevitably bond with each other rather than you and that is why you will have to separate them. I have known many people who have gone down the two-pup route and they nearly always end up favouring one over the other and then the other one gets left behind and you may find that you have to make the choice to find a new home. It is a difficult decision and one that will really depend on your personal circumstances and experience.
