COVID scuppers Amber Hill’s Olympics

-

Amber Hill, our August cover star and Team GB’s number one ranked Skeet shooter, had to withdraw from the Toyko Olympics after she tested positive for COVID-19.

Amber, 23, was Team GB’s only Skeet shooter and one of its greatest prospects for a medal at this year’s delayed Games.

“There are no words to describe how I am feeling right now,” said Amber after announcing her withdrawal. “After five years of training and preparation, I’m absolutely devastated ... I will be back from this, but right now I need some time to reflect and take in what has happened.”

Steven Seligmann, British Shooting’s performance director, said: “Our focus is to now make sure Amber is kept safe and well, both physically and mentally, and we have the support in place to help her through this difficult time.”
