INCREASING THE TEMPTATION
Once your dog is consistently ignoring the static distraction, you can move on to increasing the temptation. Set up your dog and throw out a straightforward seen retrieve. Send your dog, and as he is coming back and he is about 2m from you, throw out another dummy to one side and slightly behind you. Do not watch where the dummy goes – keep your eyes on the dog and reinforce the recall command as you throw the distraction. Be prepared to block the dog should he try to run past you to the distraction. It can be a bit easier if you have someone to help – they can throw the distraction and you can solely concentrate on the dog.
