DESCRIPTION
There’s been a shooting ground in the village of Lea Marston for more than 50 years, but when an arson attack left the grounds in ashes many thought that would be the end of the club.
Fortunately, Guy Breeden and his wife Debbie stepped into the frame. They managed to secure funding from the National Lottery and have rebuilt the grounds as a not-for-profit enterprise, with the aim of making rural sports open to all.
The entire site is easily accessible, with wide pathways, doorways and stable pathing to all stands and activities.
Everything is fully covered, too, allowing year-round shooting across the 12 Sporting stands, four practice stands, Compak stands and Skeet ABT and DTL layouts that make up the clay-shooting section of the business.
Tuition is available across all disciplines, and to all experience levels, with lessons able to be organised on a per shot basis of just £1.80.
Lea Marston also offers archery and an air rifle range, quad biking and three well-stocked carp lakes. If you need more time to enjoy everything on offer, then accommodation can be arranged, with both a campsite and Grade II-listed Georgian farmhouse on-site.
Lea Marston Shooting Club has risen from the ashes to become a fantastic example of just how inclusive and welcoming all rural pursuits can be.
