KEEPING IT SMOOTH

-

Another exercise you can do at home to check whether your swing is smooth. You will need a pair of snap caps and three markers on the wall. Start with a straight horizontal line; the mark on the left will be A, the mark in the middle B and the mark on the right C. Mount on A and swing to C pulling the trigger at B (B is not the target but the point at which the shot is taken). Mount on C and swing through to A, shooting as you pass B. What you are looking for is any deviation in the swing. The gun should stay on the right line in one smooth process. Any dip in the barrels or stopping the gun will cause trouble in the field. Once you’ve mastered left-to-right and right-to-left, you can adjust the markers to replicate a driven or walked-up going-away scenario to ensure your swing is true.
