Setting off
As soon as you pick up the ball, click off your dog to start it hunting, but hold your ground and do not walk forward. The theory behind the method is that the dog thinks the ball is still in the grass and will get its nose down and really start hunting for it. It will naturally be hunting near you and is unlikely to pull out as the limited scent and the visual indication are all in the same place.
