Sporting Gun

How much did you say?

-

In last month’s (September) edition of Sporting Gun, Peter Theobold, in his article headlined ‘Range finder’, tells us about his experience of steel shot and the comparison with lead. Peter says that the main downside of steel is the cost and to fire 200 shots at pigeon would cost him an eye-watering £300. I don’t know where Peter is buying his cartridges, but I never spend more than £60 to £70 a slab. If the article was supposed to persuade shooters to try steel with an open mind, the prices mentioned for the cartridges won’t have helped.

Ed – Thanks for your email, Jason. We probably didn’t make it clear that Peter was talking about bismuth at that point in his article, which is considerably more expensive than steel.
