Duck-filled plate for us
What ’s your favourite wildfowl to chase?
Tom says: One of the most prized species on any wildfowler’s radar has to be the beautiful and elusive pintail. I am lucky to have bagged my fair share over the years and each one holds a special place in my memory. All species of ducks have a place in my heart but wigeon on a frosty morning tide flight with the golden-hour sun is something that dreams are made of. The distinctive whistle can increase the adrenaline tenfold. Wigeon have produced some of my most memorable flights, as well as a tasty bounty for the table. We are fortunate to have most UK wildfowl species on our doorstep, which can produce great shooting with multiple species in one flight. A mixed bag can provide great sport from big tasty mallard to supersonic teal.
